Introduction of the
Final Review Fashion Show
On March 21 (Tue/public holiday), the Sustainable Fashion Awards Final Review Fashion Show was held in Endo Memorial Hall of the Bunka Gakuen Educational Corporation.
In front of final judge and many guests, the show was held by six winners (three in the Apparel category and three in the Fashion Accessories category) who had passed the reviewing process out of more than 950 entries. After a rigorous review by the final judges, Mr. Norbert Leuret, President of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Japan K.K., and designer and artist Ms. Tomoe Shinohara, the grand prize in the Apparel category went to Mr. Yota Naruse (Professional Institute of International Fashion) and the grand prize in the Fashion Accessories category went to Mr. Ryoto Someya (Tokyo Mode Gakuen).
The show was imbued with the successful contestants’ sensibilities, skills, and thoughts, as they received support from apparel professionals who assisted with production and hair and makeup created through discussions between the show director and the first-round contestants.
Each of the contestants who passed the first review created three looks or accessories and presented them on the runway. All works were made within a short period but were finished with great attention to materials and advanced skills, captivating the audience.
Dialogue between the judges
A discussion was held between Ms. Naoko Kamatani, Director and General Manager of LVMH Watches & Jewelry, Chaumet, who conducted the first round of judging; Ms. Akiko Fukai, Curator and Director of Kyoto Costume Institute; Ms. Reiko Sudo, guest advisor, and textile designer; and special guest Fashion and Beauty Creative Director and Tokyo Tourism Ambassador Ms. Misha Janet. They discussed the key points of the first round of review and the importance of sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
At the awards ceremony, the Excellence Award in the Apparel category was presented by final judge Mr. Norbert Leuret, and Ms. Tomoe Shinohara presented the Excellence Award in the Fashion Accessories category. Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike then awarded the grand prizes in both the Apparel and Fashion Accessories categories.
Backstage, those who passed the first stage fitted the models and performed careful final checks right up to the moment they were to appear on the runway. The experience of working on the show in a tense atmosphere was a valuable experience for those who passed the first review, as they will be actively involved in the fashion industry in the future.
